Christmas Eve 2009

Christmas Eve at the Purtell household was very nice. Ashley spent the first half of the day doing more baking and Ryan did more sleeping ;)

Now, I (Ashley) have to brag about my baking this year. I made: homemade peppermint marshamallows that were really easy and very good! I also made sugar cookies (2 different batches), peanut butter balls, waffles, homemade cinnamon rolls, and some other stuff that escapes me at the moment!

At 4:30, we went to the Christmas Eve Service at our church. It was perfect for the kids (one of two services; the first service was geared towards the children). There were some Christmas carols, a little play, and we sang Happy Birthday Jesus and lit candles. We came home and mommy made homemade waffles and fruit for dinner for the girls and daddy made Gumbo for Mr. and Mrs. Claus to have later.

We read stories, opened presents from Will, Eli, and Molly, put food out for the reindeer, checked to see where Santa was at on the NORAD website, and then tucked our little beauties in so they could dream of sugarplums (after reading the Night Before Christmas of course!). It was a great Eve!

opening presents from the Purtells!

Cara loves the shoes!! She even found the "perfect place" for them in her room.

Claire still doesn't quite get the idea of unwrapping, so mommy had to help.
She loves her Ni How(sp?) Kai Lan blocks!

In case you are wondering why I don't have a pic of Claire...She was already in bed.
